Personal Assistant Required – Stirling

Location: Stirling

Salary/Hourly Rate: £12.60

Contract: Permanent

I require a Personal Assistant, to join a small team, who help me live my life the way I choose. Getting the right assistance when I need it allows me to lead my life independently.

 

You will enable me to do this by listening to what I want and following my instructions. It is therefore vital that you have good communication and listening skills.

 

You should be able to handle the tasks of lifting and bending. You do not have to be strong to do the job well but general good health is important.

 

The job involves assistance with a variety of tasks. Like most people, my day varies so it is difficult to list every task that is expected of a Personal Assistant.

 

Rate of Pay: 12.60 per hour

The job requires providing assistance with the following:

 

Personal Tasks

  • Prompting me to take my medication

Domestic Tasks

  • Assistance with preparing and cooking food
  • Washing dishes and general cleaning of kitchen
  • Changing bed linen
  • Laundry and ironing
  • General cleaning and tidying of bedroom & bathroom

 

 

Social Tasks

  • Support to attend organised social events
  • Support when I am shopping for pleasure
  • Support to go out for meals or coffee
  • Support to meet friends socially
  • Support to attend appointments

 

Other Tasks

  •  Driving my motability car
  • Assistance to maintain upkeep of equipment e.g. wheelchairs
  •  Any other reasonable task that are incidental to the main tasks.

 

Personal Qualities

You will be working as part of a small team to provide care & support. Most of the time you will be working alone with me. This means you must be self -motivated. You should also

  •  Understand that I rely on you and my other Personal Assistants to support me
  • Be willing to listen to how I want things done
  • Be willing to follow instructions
  • Be able to carry out tasks and provide support in the way I want in order to meet my needs, and help me to have a good quality of life
  • Understand that it is important to observe privacy and confidentiality
  • Have good language and communication skills
  • Be honest, reliable and trustworthy
  • Be friendly and have a sense of humour
  • Be sensitive and approachable
  •  Be Punctual

 

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal applicant will have the following qualifications and experience:

  •  Membership of PVG Scheme is essential
  • Full clean UK Driving Licence is essential as you will be required to drive my motability car
  • Experience of providing care and support for a person with a disability is essential
  • Training in moving and handling would be useful but not essential as training can be provided.
  • SVQ in Health & Social Care or equivalent is preferred but not essential
