Personal Assistant Required – Clarkston

Hours per week: 3–4 (Negotiable)

I’m a fun, curious, and energetic 8-year-old who is looking for a kind and supportive Personal Assistant to spend time with me and help me enjoy my days to the fullest.

I am autistic and have some learning difficulties, along with ARFID and tics. I’m verbal, but I can sometimes feel overwhelmed if there’s too much going on or too much language at once—so having someone calm, patient, and understanding by my side really helps me feel safe and confident.

I’m looking for someone who truly understands autism (or is eager to learn!) and who can support me in a gentle, positive, and encouraging way. It’s really important to me that I can be myself, so I need someone who recognises that I might “mask” my feelings and can help me feel comfortable enough to relax and have fun.

Sometimes I may need support with personal care, so being comfortable and experienced in this area is important. I also occasionally use a disability buggy when I feel tired or overwhelmed, so confidence in using this would be great.

I love using visual prompts and timers—they help me understand what’s happening and feel more in control—so being happy to use these tools is a big plus! Support should feel natural, respectful, and positive, as I don’t see myself as having a disability.

The fun part!

I have lots of interests and love getting out and about! Some of my favourite things include:

• Gaming
• Trips to Inflatanation (Inflatable Park)
• Visiting cat cafés around Glasgow 🐱
• Attending clubs and fun family days with our local ASN charity

It would be amazing to have someone who genuinely enjoys these kinds of activities and is happy to join in, encourage me, and most importantly—have fun together!

 

Roles and Responsibilities

• Supporting me at home and out in the community
• Supporting my parent/carer both at home and when we’re out and about
• Assisting with personal care when needed

 

What I’m Looking For

• Someone kind, patient, and reliable
• Experience supporting children and/or providing personal care
• A good understanding of autism and additional support needs
• PVG membership (active and up to date)
• Right to work documentation (1 photo ID & 2 proofs of address)
• References
• A driver’s licence and access to a car
