Personal Assistant Required – Ardrossan, Ayrshire

Status: Full time (36 hours per week) or part time (flexible)

Work pattern:  Various shifts available, predominately between 6 to 12-hour shifts

Salary:  £11.50 per hour (dayshift) / £17.25 per hour (Nightshift)

ROLE

The post holder will be part of a small team providing personal and domestic support to a tetraplegic man within his own home.

Tasks to be carried out include:

• Help with personal hygiene
• Assistance with dressing
• Assistance with feeding/drinking
• Assistance with medication
• Positioning whilst in bed
• Emptying/changing leg bag
• Use of hoist
• Preparing and cooking meals
• Household cleaning and laundry
• Basic physiotherapy – i.e. stretching of limbs
• Escorting whilst socialising, attending appointments etc
• Any other reasonable duties

 SKILLS & PERSONAL QUALITIES

• an ability to listen to requests and directions, and to diligently and competently execute these instructions
• honest and have respect for privacy and confidentiality
• reliable & punctual as well as reasonably flexible
• practical and hygienic
• a driving licence would be a bonus, but not essential
• Previous experience supporting a disabled person is desirable
• comfortable around dogs (individual is a dog owner)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Monthly rota
• Pension scheme
• 6 weeks paid annual leave per annum (pro rata if part time)
• Staff room available for taking rest breaks or supporting employer overnight
• Training will be given in personal care and any other role-related area
