Meet Dean, who is currently a PA to Mohammed (Mo) whilst also studying at University.

After having a few part time jobs since leaving school and going to uni, Dean became a PA after seeing an ad on Gumtree and explained he never thought about a support role or job in social care until curiosity made him apply for the job.

Dean assists Mo to get ready for college, attend appointments, take part in sports and socialise with friends. Dean enjoys the time he spends with Mo and explained that although Mo and his family direct what he does – he sometimes has to work hard to persuade and encourage Mo to try new things rather than playing the PlayStation! With another PA, they recently enjoyed a trip and an overnight stay in England to watch the rugby. Dean said he has got so much out of the role of PA that he wasn’t expecting.

He enjoys seeing Mo trying new things and says as they are similar ages he feels people look at them as two friends not Mo and his support worker. He gets on well with the family, but sometimes feels the role of PA can we quite isolating so is looking forward to meeting other PA’s through the Personal Assistants network even just to chat about things to do and places they can go locally.
