Temporary post July - October but may become permanent for the right person

The role involves supporting myself (their mother) in the family home at times with both children or one child present , or working with one child without my support or the support of another PA. Both children require 1:1 adult support in the community and so when taking the children outside the home together, one PA is assigned to support each child.

Our home is located in the north east edge of Dundee. 

Rate of pay - £14.25 per hour

Mileage reimbursement for any car usage for work - 50p per mile. 

Holiday Pay- statutory Holiday hours are paid. 

Candidate Requirements -

Previous experience of working with children or adults with complex needs is desired. 

Knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD is essential. 

Ability to work as part of a team is essential. 

Interest in working with children and adolescents with complex needs / learning difficulties is essential. 

Flexible approach to work is essential. 

Flexible availability is essential. 

Kind, supportive, nurturing approach to dealing with children / adolescents is essential . 

Reliability and honesty as personal attributes are essential. 

Vehicle driving licence required with min 1 year post qualified driving experience is highly desirable. 

PVG check required. 

References are required. 

As the work requires personal care - Male candidates will be considered only working individually with my son (age 15). However some work would involve going out as a group with another personal assistant and my daughter (age 10) and interaction and supervision of both children would be appropriate at these times. Female candidates would be considered working individually with both children. 

Variable part time hours . ( Approx 4-6 hours per week school term time) but more in summer holidays and when covering for other members of staff. 

Term time hours -

Regularly weekend work- including 1 shift on a Saturday or Sunday, 2-3 weekends a month term time . 

Some week day hours - times are late afternoon / early evening. Flexible and variable days. 

School holiday hours - variable between the hours of 9.30am and 8pm . Shift length can vary between 2-6 hours. 

Job details - working with two children age 10 (female) and 15 (male) who have Autism Spectrum Disorder. Supporting the children at home and out in the community. 

Helping the children with everyday tasks such as getting dressed, personal hygiene, meal time preparation and supervision. 

Encouraging physical, recreational and educational play. 

Supporting the children with supervision, guidence and companionship in the community with accessing places of interest in the community such as play parks, museums , swimming, cycling on adapted bikes etc

Both children require a high level of personal care and supervision.
