Job title: Personal Assistant (PA)

Location of work: Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire

Elderly disabled gentleman seeks one Personal Assistant and five Bank Staff (PAs) to join a small team of four Personal Assistants

Bank staff will be called upon to cover absences as and when required.

Bank Staff will share the same job description as the Personal Assistant.

The aim of this job is to provide the assistance required by the employer to lead a full personal life and participate as an equal in the life of the community at large.

Hours of Work for Personal Assistant: 24 Hours per week including sleepover. This will be on a flexible basis, dependent on needs of both employer and employee. Sleepovers are available, as are additional hours to cover absences.

Hourly Rate: £10.50 per hour, in accordance with guidelines from the local authority. Pension scheme is available.

Additional information: Personal reference checks and appropriate PVG will be carried out for the successful candidate

No previous experience required: Candidate may have experience of intimate personal hygiene and support routines, although this is not essential. Training and supervision will be given by employer and his Senior.

What is essential is that the PA is highly reliable, must be honest, treat employer’s information and activities in confidence, as well as that of his family and friends, and have a positive attitude towards life and work.

Responsibilities:

  • personal care
  • prepare and cook meals and snacks
  • household tasks and cleaning
  • assist with day-to-day activities
  • assist with communication, especially over the telephone and internet
  • support to attend appointments, days out and meetings, subject to daily activities
  • ability to carry out tasks to a high standard
  • willingness to learn the job and undertake relevant training

The PA must:

  • communicate and discuss any problems which arises with employer / senior PA
  • respect the employer’s privacy
  • be reliable and punctual
  • keep working relationships confidential, including the assistance provide
  • respect and treat employer’s possessions with care
  • have discretion and integrity at all times
  • have the ability to work on your own initiative or under guidance
  • be open minded and comfortable as PA will be assisting with personal care as well as domestic tasks
  • have a good sense of humour
